STRENGTHENING YOUR INTUITION
Pt 2. How to listen to your intuition even when it’s hard
As if listening to your intuition isn’t hard enough on its own, certain circumstances make it even more challenging. There are times when following your heart means confronting hardship. There are times when you won’t want to believe what it’s saying, and others when you’ll doubt if you’re on the right path. Accepting that following your intuition isn’t easy is the first move to honouring it; choosing to lead with love is the second.
STEP 1: STOP TRYING TO CONVINCE YOURSELF
No matter how hard you try, you can’t convince yourself. You can’t convince yourself to know better, you can’t convince yourself to feel otherwise, and you can’t convince yourself to want something you don’t. Your truth is what it is, and you can’t change it.
Often times, what stands in the way of us following our intuition is ourselves. We wish we thought differently. We wish we were perfect. But, who we really are isn’t always who we want to be, and what we really desire isn’t always what we want to desire. The real you is full of mistakes and contradictions. The real you is messy and chaotic and imperfectly perfect. You owe it to yourself to accept what lies in your heart, and to honour that little voice no matter what it says.
STEP TWO: TRUST YOUR TRUTH, BUT DON’T EXPECT IT TO BE EASY
Once you’ve found what your intuition is telling you, you have to trust it. Honour it. Believe that it will guide you to happiness. But, sometimes trusting that little voice might force you to accept parts of yourself you want to push back. It might mean leaving safety for the unknown. It might mean going into uncomfortable places, both within and outside of yourself. But, as hard as following your intuition may be, it won’t ever be as hard as staying in a situation you’re not intended for.
STEP THREE: LEAD WITH LOVE, NOT FEAR
How exactly do you push past the struggles that stand in the way of where your intuition is leading you? The answer is simple: with love.
When you lead with love, you assume happiness. You prepare for ease rather than mistakes. You trust that everything will turn out as it should, rather than question the outcome. When you lead with love, you forgo fear. Your intuition always acts out of love–it’s your brain that begins to steer it towards apprehension. Knowing this, you can remind yourself to always triumph fear with love. To choose joy. To chase the life you’re meant to live.
Ultimately, your intuition is always telling you where your truth lies. You just have to be brave enough to listen.
